A group of people caught three men with a muzzle throwing terrified greyhounds into the freezing sea in Hartlepool, County Durham on November 2, 2017.
For many, the day started just like every other but turned out horrific for every single one of them who witnessed the incident as the men threw one of the dogs only to drag the poor animal back out on a long lead.
Three men wearing muzzles carried out a heinous act of cruelty
According to the people who witnessed the heinous act, three men with muzzles were repeatedly throwing a dog into the freezing cold water. One of the witnesses said:
They were being carried out to the end of the structure and unceremoniously flung in from a height of about 4ft and a distance, through the air, of 6ft.
The question was – since the waves were quite strong, what if the dog was propelled by the crashing waves into the pier?
Another witness said:
There was a significant number of dogs in the group and it appeared that they were being taken out one by one.
The cruel fiasco has gone viral
The RSCPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has urged anyone with information regarding the incident and the identity of the perpetrators to come forward.
Many who witnessed this incident insisted that they had never seen such savagery in their life. According to the organization, an inspector had reached the location of the incident, but the group of people who had made the recording was no longer there.
However, the investigation is still ongoing as they plan to catch the people behind the severe animal cruelty
The inspector behind the case has launched a wide-search investigation and has no plans to give up until he finds those responsible for the heinous act.
He also gave a statement:
These images are very distressing and we would urge anyone who may have witnessed this or may have more information which could help an investigation, to contact us on 0300 1234 999.
At the moment, the whereabouts of the men and the dogs are still unknown. The horrifying act shows the mental state of the man who was repeatedly committing barbarity and the state of trauma the dog had to endure is of major concern. Unfortunately, the dog might become extremely violent and danger to people after this.
